Local traditions

Late schedules: In Buenos Aires, lunch usually happens around 1–2 p.m., and dinner can be as late as 9 p.m. (or even later!). Don’t be surprised if restaurants only start getting busy at that time.

Bonus tip:
Argentinians love their merienda, an afternoon snack between 5 and 8 p.m. Grab some facturas (local pastries) from a bakery and enjoy them with friends over a round of mate.

Mate: It’s way more than a drink. Sharing mate is a tradition that represents trust, friendship, and connection. If someone offers you one, say yes.it’s their way of making you feel at home.

Buenos Aires is a vibrant and diverse city that quickly makes international students and travelers feel welcome.

📅 Holidays and Local Celebrations “Bridge” holidays: In Argentina, some holidays are moved to create long weekends—perfect for quick getaways.

Festivals & Events: From Carnival in February to La Noche de los Museos (Night of the Museums) in November, Buenos Aires offers film, music, tango, and cultural festivals throughout the year.

Street fairs: You’ll find them in parks and plazas, like the Feria de Mataderos or the craft fairs in Recoleta and San Telmo.

🏛️ Landmarks that you can’t miss

Theaters: The Teatro Colón is one of the most renowned theaters in the world. The city also offers more independent venues, such as the Teatro San Martín and the Teatro Cervantes.

Museums: MALBA, the National Museum of Fine Arts, and the Museum of Modern Art are among the city’s top cultural highlights.

Parks & plazas: Plaza Francia, Parque Centenario, Bosques de Palermo and Parque Saavedra are perfect for hanging out or relaxing.

Historic cafés: Like Café Tortoni, La Biela, or El Gato Negro are classic spots full of charm and history.

Parrillas (steakhouses): If you eat meat, trying an authentic asado is a must. Check out local favorites like Don Julio, La Cabrera, or traditional neighborhood bodegones.

Student Testimonials

Subcategoría Stories

My academic experience at ITBA was exceptional. I was able to broaden and deepen the knowledge from my home university thanks to a solid academic plan, excellent facilities, and highly qualified professors. The academic level was a motivating challenge that pushed me to give my best. On a cultural and personal level, the experience was equally valuable: at first, I doubted whether I would be able to adapt, but I discovered an open and welcoming society. ITBA students made me feel at home, and interacting with people from all over the world enriched the experience. What I enjoyed the most was that multicultural interaction and sharing classes with Argentinians and other international students, which broadened both my academic and personal perspective.

Since I’m Argentine-Danish, I was interested in the option of studying in Buenos Aires. That’s when I discovered that DTU had an agreement with the university where my mother studied — she was part of Class 24.

The opportunity to follow in her footsteps and study at such a prestigious university as ITBA was the perfect combination.

For me, it’s very important that I find the course content engaging, which is why I chose more technical subjects. During classes, I realized that the academic level of my classmates is very high.
On my first day at university, I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone — but five minutes into the class, someone offered me a mate! That made me feel part of the group right away and very welcomed. ITBA professors provide a personalized experience and, especially with us exchange students, make sure we feel part of the ITBA community.

I truly enjoy life as an Argentine-Danish student at ITBA!
